Intermittent starting on 1996 Johnson 25 HP

I have a 25 hp Johnson from 1996 with some issues that I am struggling to diagnose. It has electric start, and is not a tiller (all is controlled from remote controls) It ran fine on another boat, and started right up immediately. I then swapped it to my pontoon early this spring.

I fogged the motor just to be safe, and It was sitting for about 2 months (shouldn't be a big deal because premium (no ethanol) was always used). Upon trying to start it again, It would crank for a while, and was definitely getting gas, but would not start. Nothing was changed since I had it on the other boat. Here's the weird part. It all of a sudden randomly started. And ran flawlessly. I shut it off because it was not pumping a good stream of water and let it sit for about 5 minutes, (yes I then changed the impeller later) but it started right back up after that 5 minutes of not running, and once again ran strong.

The next day, I had the same issue, so I disabled the "dead man" kill switch and ensured that these wires were not grounding out at all. The motor cranked over for a LONG time, but then popped off and ran strong, and continued to run good.

I then changed the impeller, and tried to run it, and it started right up here. I let it idle for about 10 minutes, then it just sputtered out. It started right back up after that, so I just figured it just needed to stretch its legs a little, and ran strong while revving it up a little bit.

Next day, I was planning on fishing with it, but it did not start. I changed the plugs (which didn't look bad), and it started right up! I assumed that was the issue.

Took it out next day and could not get it started at the landing. Did a spark test and had no spark on either cylinders. Definitely would explain why it is not running, haha.

I then assumed something was wrong with kill circuit. I removed the kill circuit wires on my key, to remove any chance of them grounding out, and that had no effect. I did a pretty good check for corrosion, and also found essentially nothing (other than a little bit on the buzzer inside the controls).

It appears I have an intermittent starting issue. Sometimes while starting I am having strong spark, sometimes not. Once it fires off once and starts running, it will continue to run and start very good.

Currently, I am thinking I have a failing power pack. I am also going to replace the keyed ignition just to ensure that this is not the issue as well. Anyone have a similar issue? Or other advice/recommendations? Sorry for the long post too, just wanted to include every detail that I could!

Model # of the motor ?----A 2 or 3 cylinder motor ?---Some will argue about steps to take.-----Charge the battery.-----Load test the battery.----Take starter apart for inspection and ohm test.-----No money spent so far.-----You are pushing the key in while cranking it over ?---Advancing throttle for starting ?

2 cylinder motor, starter and battery are confirmed good. And yes, starting I am pushing key in to activate the electric choke and I sometimes use the fast idle levee. It usually does not need it though
