Internal fuel tank problem

15' Key west - I am getting no fuel out of 20 gallon internal tank. I have about 5 gallons in tank.
When I was putting fuel in tank I was using funnel with about 6" of hose on end of it. That hose fell into my tank filler on gunwale of boat. Can't see this hose in the filler I suspect went into tank.
How could that 6" of hose keep fuel from getting out of tank?
Fuel bulb will not pump any fuel and have tried another fuel bulb.
What the heck do I do now???
Trying to start engine does not suck fuel out either.

Was the hose rated for ethanol fuel? How long has it been in the tank? There is likely a fine screen in your tank where the fuel line connects. Possibly the hose is breaking down and the pieces of the hose, or other debris, is blocking the screen.

Jeep, the hose fell in today. I think it was a hose built for water line. It was clear with that spiral thread wrap.

remove the deck plate over the sending unit/pick up tube and check it out. Might be that the tube you dropped in is somehow blocking the vent, too.

Re: Internal fuel tank problem

What the heck am I missing here?
The hose from boat tank to boat mounted fuel filter seems to be OK. I can blow and suck air thru it.
If I attach a line directly to output of internal tank I can suck fuel out with a squeeze bulb.
shouldn't engine pump (Yam F60) be able to suck fuel in from tank?
I guess I need to make sure engine pump is OK by trying to run on an external fuel tank.
What do you think?

Sounds like you are on the right track. Maybe the engine fuel line has a hole in it allowing air to be sucked?

Re: Internal fuel tank problem

your original post said the bulb was not getting fuel so that's why we suggested looking upstream. If it is getting fuel, head downstream--either blockage or air leak. Start with the internal fuel filter on the motor since its easy to trouble shoot.

Re: Internal fuel tank problem

Ok I figured it out. Classic trouble shooting error. I thought my problem was caused by the last action I had taken when in fact it was another previous action.
I had changed external fuel filter and did not fill it with fuel and then spin it on. I started motor after putting filter on and it started and ran OK. Then I dropped hose into filler and motor ran for 10 seconds and quit. i assumed dropped hose had stopped my fuel flow when actually motor just ran out of internal filter fuel and the chase was on.
Finally filled spin on external filter with fuel and motor ran long enough to suck fuel from tank and all is well.
So be aware of all your actions before a failure. HA!

Bob G No I did not remove hose. I am pretty sure after talking to Key West tech that it is just caught in bend before tank.

Wouldn't it be a restriction to your being able to fill the tank w/o back flow? You may be able to reach the end of the tube with a spring loaded parts grabber that can be found in some auto parts store and remove it. Or you may have to access the fill hose connection, but I wouldn't think that you are going to like dealing with the restriction.
