Re: Internet explorer not responding!!!!

I have been having problems with this site and a few others since yesterday morning. I have to use Firefox to get here and it's a 1 to 2 minute process to load each page.
I would assume it has something to do with the ice storm back east and possibly going thru one of the servers that is underpowered or something.
I was also not able to get email yesterday, today is fine.

Tis the season! This "slowness" has a pattern ...... the more people shopping on line slows it down, following Christmas when the "new gift computers" go online and the first week of nice weather in the northern part of the country.

There is a bunch of companies out there now that will downgrade your operating system to XP SP3 for a small fee. The people that have done it are very happy with the results. It speeds up the computers a lot. Microsoft has even given up on Vista and are working on an OS to replace it already.

If you have not already done so delete cookies and temporary internet files that may help. Sometimes a bad cookie will caused this type of thing to happen.

Re: Internet explorer not responding!!!!

My laptop is my only Vista machine and it runs fine. I do have 2 gigs of ram though.Vista is the biggest memory hog of any operating system.
If it ever starts being a problem i have a Corporate copy of XP i can install.

Thinking of building a new machine with the dual quad core cpu.Its like having 8 cpu's in one...Will have to wait on the prices to come down. Then there is the new VM platform that lets you have different operating systems on one hard drive...really cool.

Computer hardware is advancing at an unreal rate.Imagine in another 10 years what they will have.

All this does not make a deferent surfing the web it is all about the Internet service type and the health of your PC all this power is good for running program that are installed on your PC I have Verizon Faio (fiber optic) high speed interned and it is very fast:D and I use wireless router and running Vista with 3 gig of ram and Centrino Due T7200@2.00GHz fire fox did not work well for me on this laptop so I removed it long time ago and been using IE since I just noticed that it seems to hang her maybe because I am here most of the time learning about boating:D and I have other problems.
BTW sorry for originally posting in the wrong forum!!

I get to see the Ads, Long before the page actaully loads...

iboats is No Doubt the S L O W E S T website on the Whole Web.....

While IE might be part of the problem, I'm running XP in this box,+ Vista on another 1...
This(iboats) is Always the SLOWEST...

Re: Internet explorer not responding!!!!

I had a problem for a couple weeks with iboats loading super slow. There was actually some dispute or something similar between comcast and AT&T I think it was, where comcast disconnected their trunks. Caused a bunch of problems for different routes throughout NA. Now with the ice storms going on I'm sure there are trunks and routes suffering. As of yesterday though, at least for me, the speed has come back and it loads up nice and quick.

This doesn't explain IE locking up, but for people with speed issues it may. As for IE locking up, the suggestion about clearing the cache, removing cookies and temp files is spot on. Should help.
