1968 sterncraft

I have a 1968 Mercruiser 22' Sterncraft with a straight 6cyl. 165 h.p. I/O sterndrive. Sorry I don't have the serial # but I can post it tomorrow if anyone needs it. My question is the interupt has been removed and I would like to replace it but the original kind of switch is hard to find so can I put a newer version, updated switch in it's place? I found a switch made by Quicksilver part # 864363A 1. Does anyone know if this will work or does anyone have any suggestions? I have read many posts on here about the switch but I didn't see where anyone updated the switch or can find new switches.
