Intex excursion 5 and 2hp outboard?

I recently purchased an excursion 5 boat with a motor mount to take my 2hp 1985 mariner outboard. The boat and outboard go well at minimal throttle, but when I increase the speed the outboard pulls the motormount into the water so I am being propeled with almost the entire engine under water. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to remedy this? Inflate the boat more? Maybe I put the motor mount on wrong?

Any help will be appreciated.

nothing that i am aware of. had the same problem. that motor is heavier, than the mount is designed. they used air cooled motors.

"Youre only supposed to have 1.5 hp on the boat at most."

I have a similar boat and a 3hp johnson. It works but not altogether well. I've got fins on the motor and I start out with it trimed at about a 45 deg angle. I put my weight all the way at the back during launch and the shift forward when the boat gets going, an extension on the throttle is required and ther is nothing in the last 3ft of the boat. Works great all day in 3 ft of water but I wouldn't run out to the middle of the lake with it, to dangerous. I also have to shift my weight constantly to keep the lower unit in the water and not overheat the motor.

I don't think your Excursion 5 is designed to have a motor hanging on it.
