Should all currently legal intoxicants such as Beer, Booze, Wine, and the like, be legislated as illegal, banned, and those who violate this law be severely punished?

This is an intellectually honest approach as it relates to the Pot Poll, but of course ignores what caused you to start it, the fact that one is legal and one is not. I personally believe we all have our own little squishy zone when it comes to the law. I'll bet that nobody on this board can claim to be 100% within the law, 100% of the time.<br /><br />I think the "severely punished" thing pushes it a little too far away from the pot thing.

Q22, what is your definition of "severely punished". <br /><br />My intent of "severely punished" is to reveal what folks consider this to be.<br /><br />My perception of severly punished is what is mainstream in America today. <br /><br />More revealing is, objectivly, why is one legal and not the other?

I understood your point. The severely thing is strictly semantics; in this country it is definitely a state by state thing as far as pot is concerned, that was kinda my weak point.

Thanks Q22 for your reply! I believe that a result of this pol will reveal something that a portion of those who respond believe in and wish to defend.

No. And I don't even use the stuff. But I used to and I was held responsible for my actions when I did. <br />Bassy

Out of curiosity, do those banned intoxicants include prescription medication? Morphine is nothing but refined heroin. Oxycontin is just heroin made in a lab instead of picked off the plant(not that you just pick heroin off a plant). Lots of pain killers are made out of opiates.(opium) Nyquil is a narcotic and you have to be 18 to buy it. Does it count too?

The "severely punished" part makes it skewed. Why don't you reword it to say "and punished according to marijuana laws," or something to that effect?

If alchohol were ever to be banned I can't imagine of that would affect the economic structure of Wisconsin. ;)

To date 94% favor intoxicants. Legal products I assume.<br /><br />Conclusion: we prefer to own the right to use a product that will get ya high.<br /><br />Why can we not use marijuana legally?

Because our government doesn't really work the way it was designed. If we could all go vote tomarrow, it would be legal judging by my poll. As we all know, in reality our country is neither free nor a democracy. ;) <br /><br />"If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so."<br />-Thomas Jefferson (who grew hemp and encouraged all americans to do so)
