Hi Guys,

I've been posting here now and than, but I never really presented my new pride properly. I bought her this spring from some kind of craigslist. Because I couldn't find any make, hull nr or stamp in the boat I considered that there was a risk of buying a non branded boat. So I went for a thorough testdrive and I noticed that the boat handled exeptionally well. So I checked that box. Later I ask the owner to take the boat out of the water a clean in thoroughly, so that I could examine the hull properly. Here again no problems. So I took the plunge and bought her.

I think this boat is partly home built by somebody who fixed the teak woodwork and the rubrail. The risk of buying such a boat turned into having a really unique looking boat.
So the rest of the season I started making the boat better, fixing some dodgy wiring, some panting etc. I unfortunately I soon encountered I problem with the Yamaha 115 V4.
During skiing it suddenly started to run on 3 cylinders, so I prepared for the worse, but fortunately it turned out to be some kind of dirt clogging the carb of one cylinder. Later on my mechanic complemented me with the state of the engine.

This winter I will redo the woodwork and sand it down completely in order to give it some nice new layers of clear lacker.

Enough words, time for pictures..........

Very pretty boat! Almost looks like sloep - A friend of mine is from your area and has pictures of the his family's sloep -- I fell in love with the style.

LIKE!

Someone took something like a Whaler or Striper hull and customized it. I even like the battleship gray floor. Me likey the big, bold cleats and the rope rubrail. A boat like that always looks just right with a li'l ol' flag, so always keep the your flag flyin' !

GOOD LUCK.

Re: Introducing new boat

Thanks again guys. I sure am very happy with her! It looks like that someone spend a lot of time creating the woodwork and the rope rub-rail. It indeed looks like a crossover between a Whaler and a sloep. In fact the boat has the benefits of a whaler with the classy looks of a sloep.

I still have some work to do in order to get her to the finish I want, but I'm very happy with my purchase! I'll keep you guys posted in this thread with the developments and will keep overloading you with pictures!

Unfortunately this boating season will end within a month or so..... Ah well, more time to improve my boat ;-)

Update:

Well, it's been a while but here are some new pictures. I've been improving my boat a lot and this is what i've done so far:
- Removed old and cracked Varnish, It's teak so it wouldn't need any. Filled some cracks with epoxy (mixed with wood grain) and gave it a nice sanding. I hope the wood is now maintenance free for a while ;-) What do you think of the natural look?

- New Complete cover for the boat

- New Horn fitted (double classic horn)

- Propellor profesionally re-coated

- added new striping

- etc etc

To Do:
- Bottom Paint
- Painting Lower unit
- 12V Aux powerplug

Enjoy the foto's

Beautiful,,,Next time your taking pictures, take one of the rope rub rail where it ends on the back of the transom. Love the look but can't figure how the ends were done. They look great.

Thanks, Salmon

Re: Introducing new boat

Peter: I think I remember your original post either before you bought the boat or when you were trying to find out the make and how much horsepower it could take.. I remarked then that the woodwork (brightwork) looked custom. Notice how at the bow the wood is "Booked" so both sides match? Someone took a lot of care with that.

You have a gem of a boat!
