I am the owner of a 1971 Reinell 18'6" open bow trihull...has merc l6 165 hp pre-alpha...purchased used locally through craigslist...have run boat one summer so far...very well-running boat! Boat was gone through at some point in the last 10 years and had the foam and floors re-done...now has a fiberglassed floor(carpeted) and is very sound...engine has had some attention(has newer bellows at appears to be well maintained)

Purchased this boat the begining of summer 2008 and had to do very little to get it going...mosstly just cleaning up\tune up...some things i want to do, get ideas for:

-re-doing seats\mounting...has ok vinyl but some rotted wood and mountings.
-open bow has a plastic? floor with a drain in it...very slow to drain...tryed to blow air with compressor but no luck...any ideas
-clean up wiring...lookes like a spider web now...
-get hydro bennett tabs working...sort of work now but slow/un-even...
-buff gelcoat
-trailer lights(the usual)
-more general cleaning\inspection...

Any ideas, thoughts, questions, etc...very appreciated!!

p.s. Just winterized, following advise from this iboat's forum!....still need to drain and refill outdrive but other wise good to go...can't wait till next summer!

First thought is that living in Montana, you?ll have plenty of time to tinker with it over the Winter. Upgrading and rebuilding is half the fun. You probably have some beautiful lakes to enjoy it on when it thaws up there in Big Sky country.
