io trims up but not down

I hav a 24' chaparral villian lll we took out today ran great but once we left the beach to load up we found out the out drive would trim up but not down. I switched the wires on the switch and all it would still do is trim up also the trailer switch button stopped working at the same time. Any advise on what I could do?

Yep. Check the wiring plug in connector on the pump switch assembly. That connector works loose. Try tightening the hose clamp on it.

Its probably one of the trim solenoids back on the pump. One solenoid is for going up and the other is for going down.

I will try that thank u I mean it worked Jst fine then all of a sudden noting. If not that any other thing I mean does it sound like my switch is fine? And is there any way to manually lower the engine from trailer position of an up?

Ok I found the solinoid that I thought was bad replaced it and the trim up still does not work and if I swap the wires then it will trim up but not dwn I'm getting frustrated on y I does this also the trailer button does not work any thoughts thanx I'm not very handy when it comes to this electrical stuff

Might help if you posted what drive you have and what year.

Engine and drive would be helpful. My guess is the trim sensors on the drive. Without that info, it's hard to diagnose.

Can I assume you use the "throw parts at it till it works" method of boat troubleshooting and repair?

Its a 89 chaparral villian lll 454 mag bravo one out drive with new trim pump not long ago we took it out last. Weekend ran great till we stopped to swim then i went to trim it dwn to take off it wouldn't all it would do is go up and up it did. I got home switched the green wires with the blue wires as it has 2 solinoids then when it Jst went dwn and wouldn't go up. So I replaced what I thought was the bad solinoid but still hav same problem
