iom alpha 1 trim not coming up

hello first off i am a rookie so my vocabulary sucks... the trim doesnt raise the prop but when i pull the rod out the trim is able to operate the hydros just fine. so raising the prop up by hand i thread the rod back in. then the trim goes down but not up again.............2001 3.0 4c

The first thing you need to do is head up to the Adults Only sticky at the top of this forum. There are links to all kinds of Service manuals, owners manuals, how things work and how to troubleshoot things.

You have an Alpha I Gen II outdrive on your 2001 boat. Find the Mercruiser Service manual links and download the #14 manual. Have a look at it and then you may be able to explain your problem a bit better.
