I have twin 5.7s on a 1988 30' Celebrity. I put in rebuilt QuadraJet carbs last season and they ran great until this month. If I accelerate slowly both engines run great. As soon as I hit about 3900 RPM at WOT, the port engine starts to rev up and down between 3500 and 4200. It seems to bog more if I hit a wave. The mechanic thought the prop was slipping, but wouldn't that cause the RPMs to surge? I did change the spark plugs. The right side runs great, so I don't think it is fuel. Pump? Filter? Carb? Electrical? Has any one else had this? There was a leak in the bellows at the same time that I noticed the problem. The bellows and gimble bearing have been replaced, but I can't imagine how that could have triggered it. Any thoughts?
