is a 1966 or 7 merc 1100 ss a good motor

found a nice looking merc 1100 ss that i am going to go look at and maybe buy on a boat with a trailer for 200 dollars. It will turn over but does not start the guy said. I had a 1961 800 i just recently sold to a guy overseas for a good amount and it did not run but would turn over also. Any suggestions on this motor when looking at it or should i just get it? please someone give me advice on this one. thanks.

If you know how to work on them and have the tools mercs require, yes it is a great buy. Just the trailer if it works good would be worth the price. Is there a chance that it will run without a lot of work and possibly some expensive parts-----yes, if you like playing the lottery. I know a couple of guys on the forum would love to have it at that price. Heck, if it's worth anything, it's worth $200.
You obviously like to sell stuff over the internet if you sold something to someone overseas, so I think you could easily make your money back and then some if you parted the motor out.
