Is a 25hp gonna be enough............?

I just bought me a 1995 gregor 15.6' aluminum boat and i have a 25hp evinrude engine. Is this going to be enough, it has OAK benches and full floorboards. Thanks any help would be great.<br /><br />Mike Howard

It should do fine......unless you are in a hurry. <br />For comparison I have a 14' bare bones wide jon, with a 20hp merc and it runs about 25mph at full throttle. Depends on your total rigged/loaded weight but a 25 will get you there and back.

Another though......what is it rated for? I read somewhere posted on the net that most boats peform best with a motor of at least 75% of the rated size. Anything below 75% would be underpowered i guess.

That boat will be fine with a 25. You should be aable to do 25-30 easily with it provided you have the correct prop.
