Is a Sportjet 90 worth fixing?

I need help. So does my boat. I've got a 93/94 (not oil injected) Sea Rayder with a SportJet 90. I've cracked the block, due to overheating. I've been told it'll cost around AUD$4500 (US$3600) to get a replacement block which sounds pretty outrageous to me.

Where is the best place to find a replacement block, 2nd hand block or engine? Can I put a bigger engine in this boat?

I'm in Australia but I've got a pilot buddy who flies to the U.S., U.K. and Europe a bit so he can arrange a pickup if necessary.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Craig.

I can't say for sure, but I think a 120 powerhead will fit as long as you have the necessary height for another cylinder. You'd need a completely dressed powerhead, but many of the 90 parts would fit.

It is the exact same block as the outboard motors. The water jackets and some electrical components are changed, but otherwise identical. I have swapped blocks dozens of times for the Sport Jets. Yes, that price is outrageous. I can get you a whole drop-on powerhead together for half of that.
