Hello All:
Last week I posted a question about my 76 Johnson 25 popping out of gear after the clutch dog was replaced. Now i heard that when the dog is worn out it also places wear on the forward gear and that when the dog is replaced it is common to replace this gear also to remedy the exact problem I have now. True? Does anyone out there have a good lower unit for a 25 Johnson(1976) that I can just swap and be done with all these repairs? Thanks
Michael

They made a heavy duty kit for your engine That included a new forward bearing with a 3 lug gear, and matching 3 lug dog. It is not uncommon if the dog jumps out of ingagement for any length of time to also damage the lugs' on the forward gear.
