Is it me or can we not "search" by "posted by"

I can search by other items, but cannot seem to get any results when searching the db witht he "posted by" field.

I really don't like this new forum. I try to search just for omc in heading or text and I still get everything.

Takes longer to read through search also with having text in the search results.

Not to be ungrateful to all the excellent support found within this site, but I too preferred the old one. Sorry, but I thought it was faster, and easier to use.

I figured out how to do it the other day, but their might be an easier way. What I did was go to advanced search, set the time frame, put the user name in the search box and then under "content criteria" I put the word "the" in the "one of these" box. I wanted to see every post by the user. I figured the word "the" would be in most of them. I think it won't just seach for every post by a user, but if you specify a search word used in a post by a specific user you'll get all of them in which it was.

Have you tried the spell check on a post with punctuation marks and parentheses, apostrophes, etc.? It scrambles them all up...

It's ashame that we have to invent tricks to search in this new improved forum. I assume (uh oh) that the Mods have heard many complaints about the search and are looking for ways to improve them.

I agree with you all, the search needs to bring up the subject line and not every post that has to do with that. Call me crazy but isn't that what a subject line is?

The people in charge are still working on the search function as I type.
Just give them a couple more days to see what they come up with.
