1. is it true that Tohatsu is built by Nissan?

2. is it true that Tohatsu is the only brand that rates horsepower at the propeller and others ex. yamaha measures at the power head. meaning that a 30hp Tohatsu moves as fast and powerful as any other brand's 50 HP????

3. are they durable?

4. easy to fix?

2) FALSE.....All major brands are rated at the prop and similar in HP.
3) Durable as any other brand.
4) Just like any other outboard some things are easy to fix and some things aren't.

Actually, Nissan is built by Tohatsu (not the other way 'round). Also 4-stroke Mercs (30 and under) are built by Tohatsu as well.

All outboards that meet NMMA standards are rated at the prop and have been since the mid-80s.

From time to time dishonest salesmen/wrenches start gossip about their competitors not meeting NMMA. Those are all lies.
