Re: is it worth it swap motor?

I have a '92 225 Yamaha carbourated. I was thinking about replacing it also. I checked everything and it has great compression. Here are the conclusions I came up with - I went on all the engine mfg websites and they all have test boat results. So I looked up the size boat I have and the weight and matched it up to one of their test boats. I know I'm getting 1.9 MPG and 3700 RPM. I matched it to their RPM's and the best they were doing was 2.5. To replace my engine would be about $15K and that's a lot of gas. So I'm going to run it until it blows. It's not worth an extra .6 MPG for that kind of money.
On rigging - I've been told by Yamaha that you can use the same controls and gauges. The only thing you have to get is a "Y" adapter for your gauges since the new engines have digital output whereas the older ones are analog
Hope this helps
