Is my 40hp mercury outboard enough to pull a tube

I got a 17 ft deep-v its a 98 in good shape dont want to risk it. Tried tubing last year felt like I was pushing hard to break plane sometimes

Yea you will. Trying to get on plane is the hardest part of all. I did tow tubes with my tx 17 40hp and once it was on plane it was nothing. If your going to do it a lot then you might consider a second prop just for those times if your pulling a full size person. Make sure your tow setup is secure and use some common sense and you should have lots of fun.

What pitch prop is on it for regular use, and do you have a tach and power trim?
