is my engine yamaha or mariner????

Ive just bought a yamaha engine and on the plate with the serial number it says mariner 40ML, the serial number is 6E9 L 361398. I want to buy a service manual for the engine and I dont know weather to buy a yamaha or mariner manual. I think the engine was made in 1993 but Im not totally sure. I also need to know what fuel oil mix to use?????

its a mariner their was a old post that had the same first 4 char., an somehow you can decode the serial # to get the yr., hope that helps

yamaha was manifacture for mariner engines..so they have the same engine..probably somebody before you put mariner engine on it,but it is still yamaha ..you can buy which ever you want service manual..it is same thing..oil mix is 100:1..
