My 7.5 gamefishers prop spins the opposit of all other motors I have seen and I dont know if its just an eska thing or what but I thought that it was a bit odd, I'm sure mrcrabs would know the answer but if you do please let me know.

It all has to do with whether the prop shaft gear is forward or aft of the pinion gear. It was at the discretion of the engineers that designed the motor. Almost all gearshift motors have it forward of the pinion. Probably half of the non-shift ones are aft. Don't worry, you don't have a true counter rotating motor like are made for big motors on twin engine boats.

The direct drive and clutch shift Eska's/Gamefisher are left handed rotation including the Tanaka TOB models. I'm not sure on the Eska positive shift models, all of the F-N-R models are right handed rotation

I love the Eska 7.5's for it the dependabilty and gas sipping ability, the 15hp twin has been a pleasure as well even after buying a new CDI. From my point of vew its all been money and time well spent. In my my first three fishing trips this early spring I still have't used 3 gal of fuel, and I put some miles on it at WOT...heck I use three gal of fuel just trolling out of the marina and crossing the river to my first fishing hole with my 3 cylinder J/E.

So I say bring on 5 dollar gas, I have a Eska! :D Long live "The dependable Eska"

Re: Is my gamefisher a counter rotation motor

I ran out of gas on the lake and the motor just died at 3/4 throttle and I'm in the boat by my self thinking I just fried the motor, there is nobody else on the lake since it was easter, and the closest house is nowhere within shouting distance, but after looking at the motor I saw that the fuel filter bulb was empty so I just filled it up (lucky for me I carry an extra 2 gallons of gas) and it was fine.

Yea, those Eskas are really basic engines and pretty easy to coax back to life. I've fixed and sold several of those, myself. It's amazing how much abuse they'll take and still run. :D:D
