Is pine lumber too soft for motor mount?

Hi all. Im restoring a 86 searay seville with the mercruiser 140 I/O. Searay used three 2 x 6s boards laying flat stacked on top of each other and cut to fit in the V part part of the hull to create the mount. The mount goes between the stringers My question is. Is pine or whitewood 2 x 6s too soft to use as a core material. Will the weight of the 140 merc engine make this wood sag in after a while? Even if it dont get wet? Im not sure what kind of lumber Searay has used since the wood was wet and the mount was sagging to start with. Id really would like to go with the original design if i can. All ideas and opinions on the wood type and design of the front mount will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

White Pine is not the optimum wood to use for boat restoration. Southern Yellow pine can be used, but most restorations are done using ext. grade plywood laminations.

Thank you for the the replies phazer and woodonglass. im leaning toward using plywood now. i checked around the lumber mills in my area and all they had was white pine, pressure treated and cedar lumber. I was wanting to go back with the original design and construction of searays mount as it seems like a solid design. But anyways. Thanks again for the replies
