With the advent of the XHS hubs, it appears that is woule be easy to change props from a Mercury hub to a Yamaha hub, as long as the propeller is the correct size for the gearcase. Specifically it appears that the V-6 Merc OB share props (but not hubs) with 150HP and above Yamaha Outboards. Is it therfore possible to change non Xchangeable prop hub props from one application to another? Could the prop shop press out the hub on the older Rapture I use on my Mercruiser Alpha I and rehub it for a Yamaha OB?d:)

It's relatively easy to swap the props around. You may have to change the spline lenghth on V6 style props(shorten Merc splines to run on an Evin / John) or change thrust washers. It can be done. Merc and Yamaha V6 and intermediate motors have the same splines so it's possible to run a V6 Merc OT prop on a 115 but you wont have the Over - thru effect. IE -- a 13 3/4 4 blade with a Merc hub will work on a 200 Merc and a 115. Same with the Yamaha. The V6's have the same spline count as the V4's.

I think all you'd need to run your Merc prop on a V6 Yamaha would be to use the Merc thrust washer.
