Is there a better fix

Ive looked and asked alot of people about what is the #1 problem with Force outboards.Most say over heating.
Other than keeping the cooling system in good shape
"new water pump inpeller,flush and inspect the cooling system,ect".Is there something that some one can do to make it work better?

Replace the thermostat.
Install a water pressure gauge.
Keep engine tuned properly.

what kind of presure can i expect at idle and WOT with the water presure gage

4 psi at idle
12-16 psi wot

I took the water pump out and was looking at it.The stanless steel plate on the bottom of the water pump has the inlet opening.What do you think if i was to make this opening wider. It looks to me that it could cause a restiction of water flow.The plate inlet hole is about half as wide as the length of the of the impeller blade when it is in its housing.Or is there a reason that this inlet hole is this small.
By the way im working on a force 50
any in put would be appreciated

Unless you're having a overheating problem i would not change anything or modify anything, just keep your eye on it as long as your impeller and housing are in good condition you should be fine...

NumbaONE i agree with you.Im just one of those people
who like to who try to make things work better.Thanks for the input.i think il put an pressure gauge in and keep an eye on it .
ps got to get it back together the coho are running in about two week 8)
