Re: Is there a good web sight for omc part # searches.
Hi Wayatt<br />What you need is a parts manual for your motor. This booklet gives exploded veiws of all the parts and all the part #s. The parts manual will not instruct you in repairs and maint. They can be helpful at times, to make sure you have all the parts and sometimes a hint as to the sequince they are installed. You can order them at your local dealer or you may try the Ken Cook co. I don't know of any web sites that have a full parts catolog for any brand motor. There are so many different brands and models. For OMC alone were talking a hundred years of production. Buying parts on the net by part# only works if you have a parts manual. You could ask me or one of the other fellows to look up a part# for you. No problem, But the only thing I could tell you about that # is, if it is available, what it will cost, and that it is a bearing, gear case, control box, etc. I have no idea what year or model it will fit. In order to find out this way I would have to spend hours, maybe days manualy searching part catologs and microfitche until I hit pay dirt. Now if you give the model# of a motor and ask if part# ****** will fit or not thats easy. All I have to do is find the part manual in my library and find the part and if the #s match all is good, if not,you better think about it. Over the years I have collected this info for most all the major American brands. I have two 8' shelves of books in front of me and a couple boxes of microfitche. For me loading just one year of OMC production on my computer would be mind boggling. I hope I have answered some questions for you. I will be glad to answer more if I can or help with part info if I can.
