Is there a place on the internet to cross reference oil filters?

I'm looking to get an oil filter for my 04' 3.0 liter Mercruiser. I think the Fram PH30 will fit but I'm not sure. I'm not using the Fram, just want to cross-reference something to get me a Puralator, AC Delco, WIX, etc. If there is a website where I can do this, great, if not, does anyone know any number of one of these aftermarket filters that will fit my 3.0? I'm not paying 10 dollars for a Mercruiser filter that I believe is made by someone else. I'm particular to the Purolator PureOne. Thanks again.

Your local auto, discount, or farm store has a an application and cross reference book usually hanging right by the oil filters. Help yourself and pick up the filter at the same time.

Actually, the local counter apes have no clue what filter I need(Advance Auto). I thought the Fram PH(PF)30 was applicable to that engine but I'm not positive about that. Also, there was no reference guide for marine engine applications. The closest their guides got was a section on PWC's. Maybe I'll rephrase my question. Does anyone have an 04' or similiar year of the 3.0 liter Mercruiser engine and if someone does, do you know of ANY applicable filter numbers for that engine, with exception of the Mercruiser/Quicksilver number. My Clymer manual does not advise any alternative oil filter numbers as it does for spark plugs. Thanks agian for any input.

on a 1995 3.0 its a PH-5

the 3.0 was never used in a car so its tough to expect the counter guys to pull a number out of the air

tommays

Well tommays, they haven't been used in cars for a very long time, but they started life as a car engine. Chevy Nova I believe.
Actually, you can use the same filter as a Small block Chevy V8.

Yep, Don has it right. I4 3.0, V8's, and V6's with remote oil filter all use the same, the Merc 35-802885T or Quicksilver 35-802885Q. The V6 w/o the remote uses the smaller 35-883702K.

The Purolator map to the I4, V8 and remote V6 is L24736 (or the Pure One PL24736). If you have the room, you can go longer with the PL34631.

BTW, most filter mfg'ers have a map / xref function on their site. If you go here:

http://www.pureoil.com/ProductFinder.aspx?action=IG

and enter the Merc filter 35-802885T (be sure to do it without the dash) it will show you it maps to the L24736.

For more detail, see my signature. I can't remember all this stuff, so I have to refer to it.

I re-read your post and didn't include Wix and AC Delco. The Wix or Napa Gold is 51086 or 1086.

If you want to go longer the numbers for Wix and Napa are 51060 / 1060.

If you want to go AC, go with the longer PF1218.

As always, thanks for the help! I did find the cross reference feature at Purolator's site but couldn't get it to work until I read the post here about not including the dash in Merc's part number.
