I have a 5.7L 1992 Mercruiser. I know that the outdrive has zinc pieces that must be replaced. Another boater that I know contends that all I/O engines have zinc piece in the engine that also need to be replaced. Is this true? If so how do I find them on my engine? Thanks

The pencil zincs are usually found in the heat exchanger on boats with closed cooling systems, and in a few oil coolers (not Mercruiser).<br />The one in the heat exchanger is usually located on the bottom of the heat exchanger on the starboard side. Like I said, MOST, but not all.

I have two in my exhaust manifolds but they are custom aftermarket manifolds
