Is this '03 Caravelle 187 worth $10k?

My mother lives in SC and is considering buying this boat.
2003 Caravelle 187 Fish & Ski for sale | Ocean Isle, NC

She took it for a sea trial and it ran flawlessly. It's on consignment at this dealership. The price is $10k including the Load rite trailer. Has under 200 hours and was run on freshwater lakes...and a few times in saltwater.

Has recently been serviced at this dealership.

I need any/all advice I can get to make sure she's not getting in over her head.

Well. It has some mildew issues, so that would have to be dealt with by the dealership at that price. That is a premium price on that boat. I believe they sold for around 18-19 k when new. That Carravelle was made here in my hometown. They are really nice boats. All composite, ride smooth, pretty fast and fuel efficient. Carravelle has since been in foreclosure- bought, sold and reopened. They seem to be making a good many boats again but unsure as to current quality. I have yet to see any current boats close although I have seen some on the local lake with some really nice color schemes.

Did you check NADA.com for the fair market price?

With the trailer, it is an OK deal . . . the boat alone is about $7,500 market value.

She bought it. She paid $9k+ for it. She's picking it up tomorrow.

Hopefully everything goes well for her. Her BF has been a boat captain(barges, yachts, etc) for 40 years...so hopefully he weighed in on her decision also.
