Guys, tyring to find a new tacho to verfiy that my current one is correct.

I have replaced the stator on my 1992 90hp Force with this part from CDI:

Mercury / Mariner Stator: 174-8778K 1

Can anyone conform how many poles it is so I know what kind off tacho to be getting? is it as simple as that?

thanx

hahahaha, I count either 10 or 12, but pretty clue less to what is a "pole" and what isnt, are the white ones poles aswell?

Just my searching has said that Force motors run a 20 pole stator, this is the aftermarket one CDI sent me to replace my "black 9amp Force stator"

ive installed it and seems to work, just trying to check my tacho is reading right now.

That stator is a Merc, not a Force, part ("Force by Mercury" labelled motors). During this time period, the electronics were switched to Merc, so I think a 12-pole-compatible tach is what you need. What did the stator you replaced look like?
