Is this a bad idea

I am rebuilding a skiff and I'm trying to create as much storage area as poss. Under the center console I wanted to put a permanent gas tank and the battery, it would fit perfect and give just enough room for the rigging. Obviously everything would be fitted properly and I would expect no gas leakages. Is this a bomb waiting to happen?

properly ventilated it is ok. although, you will have to increase the size (guage) of your battery cables, for the difference in length, from stern to console.
