Is this a good boat?

A 1983 Blue Fin Sportsman...it is aluminum & length is 16ft
Are they a solid boat?
How thick is the aluminum on them.
What is good about them or not so good?

if it is a fresh water boat, they are well built. light, for their size. i had a 89 that was saltwater an the electrolis got to it. but they are good boats. handle very nicely.

I've got a 14footer with a 25hp Johnson. Great boat, very solid and I just have front and rear benches with seats on them. My dad cut the center one out when he got it originally. No flex, and I've hit good sized waves with it. Solidly built boat, no complaints. I'm sure the 16ft would be a similar experience.

BTW, the aluminum on mine is plenty thick....nothing like my 1965 alumascrap, er craft.

Guys thanks for the info. Sounds as if they are soid boat. If I buy this boat not sure about the moter...it's a Sea King 50hp. I wonder if I get much for the motor.(Starts & Runs) & than buy a new Tohatsu 50hp ( they will go up 3% next month) time is running out August is all most gone.
Boat cost me $1,000,,,maybe & new motor $5,000 - what would I get for old motor $???
Would I be better off getting newer boat but the motor would still be used.

What to do??????????????????????

PS would that boat take a 70hp?

you need to find the coast guard placard, and see what the max hp rating is. i doubt you would get much for the motor. it is probably in the 1960's range.

Most 17 ft boats like that are rated for 90hp, so you might be able to hang a 70 on it.

My 18' Blue Fin Sea King (aluminum) is rated for 125hp

It has a 65 on it now and it moves along nicely
