I found a 83 model 15.6 Dyna Trak, with a 115 Hp Johnson motor. This boat has depth finder at the driver seat, graph up front, trolling motor, and normal dash guages. Now for the bad stuff. Its been sitting outside in weather for 6 years i beleive. The seat wood is rottin, but doesnt bother me. The Steering is will not move but just a little bit. And all carpet is rotted off the top of boat. The Hull is fiberglass it seems to be solid, but im not real knowledgable about buying boats. And the forward Reverse controls seem a little stiff. Trailer is in good shape no rust. I think its galvanised. i think the motor would start with a little routine clean up. The Price is only $1000. What do you guys think. Btw the motor seems very clean no sign of leaks of oil or anything. Any advice i would appreciate.

Thanks

Hey Crappie Fan,
Pop the cowling off that puppy, pull the plugs, put in neutral, put a wrench on the flywheel nut and see if engine turns. If it does, get someone to hold thumb over each spark plug hole, while you turn engine and see if compression seems the same on each cylinder. If it is, change gears and see what prop does. Drain lower unit and check oil with a good magnet for metal chunks. Powerdy metal probably o-k.
Disreguard boat, is the engine and trailer worth a grand? If so doittoit.

g'luck & c/6

hooty

I checked the motor real good. It seems to be in very good shape, all gaskets not leaking. lower unit oil is clean. Good compression. Thats the best part of the whole boat. The only thing that is making me not sure is the throttle controls and the steering. Dont know how much it would cost to replace them if i had too.

Throttle and shift cables = 40.00 ea.+-
Steering cable = 100.00.+-
Might be able to re-lube existing and they'll be o-k.
Like I said, is the engine and trailer worth a grand? Boat's free.

c/6

hooty
