Hello all i am currently deployed and i get back at the beginning of february and was looking to buy a bigger boat for my family when i get back. i found this which seems like a pretty good deal

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/boa/2141446680.html

I dont know much about searay boats and was just looking on pros/cons of this year/model. BTW i already emailed the owner about current hours and if anything has been rebuilt on the drivetrain.

thanks in advance,

Re: Is this a good deal?

Scam,

Welcome to iBoats. Thanks for your service. My family and I appreciate it.

These are not bad boats but I agree with Lipp. Soft spot in floors usually lead to other major problems like rotten stringers and/or transom. Boats built in the 80s and 90s (some) can be prone to this condition unless they have been dry stored all of their lives. Boat gets wet, foam under the deck gets wet, stringers rot, transom rots and deck rots. If you need to stay in this time period due to budget be careful on what you buy. Read up on potential problems in the Resto forum.

Take a look at the thread in the restoration section by Friscoboater on his latest Searay 220 with a "soft" floor. It's enough to make your heart break.

Happy Hunting.

I would have to agree with the general consensus there about the soft floor and finding something that didn't require a lot of work right from the start.

Unless you are buying something to work on instead of going boating.
