My wife thinks we should name my boat charity. We bought the boat off ebay from a charity, and its a girls name. Whatcha all think. I just can't seem to bring myselt to get used to it. I told her I would ask the all knowing boat comunity and let them decide. I'm not against it, but just not loving it.

here is a pic of the boat. I'm open to other ideas aswell.

Its fitting, did you have a better, or should I say different name in mind. Maybe let her have the name, and add sumtn' like... Sweet Charity, how 'bout Charity Case. Its got a few years on her. That second name may end up being accurate, [Hope Not] or i mean Hope Knot... um sorry. Whats your wife name You could put that in there maybe. Likes Chads Charity ?????

If you're not liking the name, then hold off - nothing says it has to be named right away. But I think the name works fine. We did something similar with our 1972 - named it "Fide." That's the Latin word for "faith" which is what you need in a 1972 - faith that it'll start, faith that it'll float, faith that it'll make it back ... :D

lol, wife named the last boat. My 68 silverline was named "tubby" It looked like a bathtub with a windshield. Atleast I think she named it after the boat. hmmm.....

and actually, I'm not a big fan of naming boats this small, but the wife likes to.

If your doing if I may as well, this one gets me promoted.

If you don't like the name don't put it on the boat, you will never like it but it depends how much the wife wants to name it that also, this could be a tough one.

take your time. let your possible name grow on ya. while your procrastinating. think of some other names. then choose the one you like... took me most of a season to decide on the name i used for my boat. turned out, it was the first name i'd thought of... nothing else worked in the end... though i will say, just last time out. my 'ol lady came up with a new name for my boat that i hadn't thought of before (fifth season). citric acid... i liked it. but i'm not renaming my boat... what i decided on will have to stand. and i like it too.... take your time... it don't have to be named today..

In response to "Stump Hunter", how bout Rock Finder? I see you are in PA and if you are running the Susquehanna, that name should apply just nicely.

I would pass on that name as well, but whatever you decide on don't forget the "Naming Ceremony". It's in here (the forum) somewhere. Do a search for it. If you don't do it the right way she'll be nothing but bad luck & it's actually a fun thing to do as well as a good reason for a party.

Charity is very good and (thanks to Mr. Johnson) Charity Case is even better. Either will support your income tax deduction for the amount you paid in excess of the fair market value.

"Charity" can be a good name. When your wife tells someone where the name came from, she can tell her side. When someone asks you, tell them you named it after one of the three British Gloster Gladiator fighters that defended Malta from the Italian Air Force during the early part of WWII in the Mediterranean (they were named Faith, Hope, and Charity). That's a more manly (ar, ar, ar....) answer.
