The fellow that has this boat claims there is no leaks....it was in a storm and i am considering either trying to repair it or using the boat as is. Could the floor be removed and dolly the dents out...them seal the seam/rivets if in fact it does leak.

Good Luck! Aluminum is not very easy to work when it come to dents and creases, unlike sheetmetal. I myself wouldn't touch it.

thanks ....i know aluminum stretches ...so my other question is ....can the boat be used as is. Other than getting the odd "what happened" look.

The damaged areas look like they would be out of the water when on plane. Your best bet would be a test drive. But I would pay only a severely discounted price even if it performed well.

thanks but there is no motor on the boat. I can get it for $800 or less no trailer

Looks to me like it probably would t leak or cause any problems in use and even if it did leak it is repairable fairly easily if looks aren't important to ya..... Just patch it with new aluminum sheet, 5200, and rivets.

I wouldn't pay much more than the value of the motor and trailer for it tho.

The starboard dents probably wouldn't affect running the hull. The port side dents are further back and very rippley. No motor or trailer? I wouldn't waste my time, or money, messing with it......

Do you have a trailer and motor to go on it? Are you looking for that model? If not I would pass.

There's a reason it's been stripped of its motor and trailer.

I'd give scrap value for it for starters.... We don't have enough info to say more

Re: Is this aluminum boat repairable...usable

Looks like it spent a stormy night beating on some rocks. Maybe an insurance-totalled hull?

Around here it would be sold and used as a "work boat." If it doesn't leak--or not so much that JB Weld can't fix it--it can have plenty of utility in that capacity. Trying to "fix" it, however, is too high a risk of making it worse.

If looks don't matter, and the price is right, and you float test for leaks, how bad can it be? But if you are one of these boat owners who waxes his trailer, you might not be too happy with it. Retain the "as is" quality or look elsewhere.

$800 is way to much for just the hull. I might consider it if it had the trailer with it. Sounds like he is trying to charge someone to haul his junk off his trailer.

Also keep in mind that the aluminium used in boat mfg is tempered alum and it does not stretch much at all. Tempered alum will bend once and when you try to bend it back it will crack. If you heat it to bend it then it will become soft and then bend very easily and that means it will not hold its shape. Way to costly in my book..........

Not sure what the history is of that boat, but if is being sold hull only, with no motor or trailer, then it may have been an insurance write off, with a hull too badly damaged to repair. The motor and trailer would have been sold separately. For $800, you should be able to find a solid hull which does not have major damage.

The process of removing the floor involves extensive work, as there will probably be pour in flotation foam inside, plus wiring, above floor storage boxes, livewells, and other mechanical systems which will need to be moved. It isn't likely just a case of undoing a few screws and popping the floor out.

That damage is structural and I will bet ya, it will have issues when in use on plane. The hull is sitting on what looks like raw wood planks, with little protection. If they are pressure treated wood(trailer), it could be damaged there too. It looks as though is was already stripped of most of its value, I'd run away if your looking for a good safe boat, this one's seen better days.

Ditto what everyone else said, plus if you look closely on the port side picture just in front of the fender, it looks like the hull is torn. could be an illusion, but it looks like it is ripped to me.

Say you buy it and spend some money to fix it up. More than likely you wont keep it forever. How on earth can you resell it? Most people will have no interest due to the condition of the hull............. You really should think twice before pulling the trigger......JMO :)

Yes, I totally agree with you, there on the port side just forward of fender, looks UGLY!! For that money, there are lots of good hulls, with trailers, many even with good motors looking for homes. Don't walk away from this wreck, RUN!! Good luck.
