Re: Is this boat overpriced?

From the photos that boat appears to be in very good condition. If that's the case, and there are no mechanical issues, then that price sounds at least in the ballpark. Also, try to find what similar boats are selling for in your area. When judging a boat's worth you can't just look at age, much more important is how it was cared for.

Most of the boats that sell in my area are either 80's or above 10k. I'm thinking 5200-5400, pending a mechanics inspection?

That's a really good price assuming everything else checks out. Maybe sure you take a close look at it and take her for a spin.

Now, cue someone from the deep south chiming in about how overpriced that thing is. (They're right of course, something like that might actually be cheaper down in Florida or something).

Provided the motor is in good shape that looks like a deal to me. Nice trailer too (trade you)

NADA without adding in extra stuff is like 5200 for normal. below average is 4400ish. Being as its Iowa...less boats to compete with for sales.

Whhooo weeee!!! That thar is shore a purty boat! But I kin buy them things all day fer purtin' near $3,000...Yous fixin' to git hog wallered!

Actually, it seems like a decent price for the boat if all checks out. Check the floors and transom for soft spots.

Not a big fan of that boat with the 130hp engine. You'll be hard pressed to get 35mph out of it. That was Four Winns entry level boat...a nice boat, but you'll hate the little engine after a couple weekends on the water. That being said, the price is reasonable, compared with what we'd see here in Ohio.

Don't agree there, this 130HP outboard will push this boat nicely, I had a 90hp on a similar size with deeper V and was doing 37mph fully loaded.

Re: Is this boat overpriced?

yeah thats a problem I was concerned about I wanted to how fast it went on the water. If it can't do 40 with 2 people in it then I'm not interested. By the time you get two coolers 6 people on the boat, thing needs to be able to have some get up and go. Not alot. But it needs to perform.

Entry level boat for an entry level person :) Nice thing for me is it will hopefully get me in the water and the wife is happy with the price tag.

I also disagree. A 130 is great power for a 17'. I'm getting 41 out of my 90 with a light load.

Also gonna check out a 19 foot Sea Ray in my area. Worked Sat/Sunday though wasn't able to email either :(

Is there any difference to how boats were made in the 90s as far as hulls and features to prevent rotting etc? That's my biggest concern is buying an internal unknown problem boat. :( Its My biggest fear.

Its a good price but I wouldn't say a great price. You should negotiate at least $500.

Well yeah. If you ever got exactly what you asked for something with no discussion, it means you should have asked for more!

Re: Is this boat overpriced?

that boat would sell in a matter of hours in dallas, tx . I just got through with a boat search and it was exhausting. Boats between $5-7 go quick around here. I bought a 97 searay 175 and he was asking $5k which was the lowest I saw ever around here. He had approx 20 calls while I was looking at it.

My boat has a 135HP and I had 8 people on it this weekend and probably was over weight limit... still pulled tubers and wakeboarders with out issue. I get 39.9MPH (GPS) with just me at WOT..dang it, can't I get .1 more MPH :) loaded I get around 29MPH at cruising speed (3600RPM). Thats a inboard outboard so I don't know how that translates to an outboard.

An outboard will weigh less, so performance would be a bit better, all else being equal.

That would be a good deal in my neck of the woods, compared to what I see posted.

In most cases, a 90 hp outboard with power trim will outrun the same boat with a 130hp I/O with regard to top speed and also be faster out of the hole. The weight difference is substantial and an trimmed out outboard is much more "speed friendly" than an I/O. I stand by my comment that he won't be happy with the 130 I/O.

I drove one of those last year (and again last week) with a 90 HP and it went 40 GPS (two adults on board, no gear and a SS prop). It was much quicker and faster than I expected it to be.

Should go 48 with 130 HP, same conditions...

That's a good price for one in MA or NH. They are great boats.

Not to nitpick, but the boat has a 130 outboard, not a 130 I/O;)
