Check out this page for some basic info about it. Anything is worth fixing as long as you have the time and money to put into it. One thing is for sure, you will appreciate it much more when you are done.

As for value, check listings on CL, boattrader, iboats, etc for comps. NADA provides a good base value but then you must factor variables like condition, hours, etc.

I tried the NADA site but that left me more confused. Does the value include the price of the nearly new trailer. Also, the value, which seemed really low, kept listing the boat as fiberglass. Perhaps many of them were or are, but this boat is definitely aluminum. Does this make the boat more valuable or less. That is why I came to iboats.com, as most of the internet references that were made to this boat, came from these forums. Thanks, WIlliam

Also, the value,

Ayuh,... You keep mentioning that...

It's an old boat that's worth whatever somebody's willing to pay you for it...
Search ads,+ auctions for like models,+ vintages...
It'll always be worth the $800.00 or More, even at Scrap Value..

If you rebuild it,+ run it,... It'll be worth Millions...

I figure better to know a reasonable value should I first, decide to keep it for the money owed and second, before I stick a ton of money into it. If I decide to keep it, then I will get back what I stick into, simply out of my personal enjoyment. But should I decide to fix it, it doesnt make sense to stick more into it than its worth.

Welcome to iboats!

In my opinion the rig is worth more than if it were fiberglass. It has a merc I/O which is better than if it were an obsolete OMC stringer.

It sounds like you don't think it needs too much work but I would rebuild the deck and interior so I could get some gluvit down to prevent leaks.

As mentioned it will be worth the most to you to keep it and enjoy after your work is done. For resale it could get 3-4k+ if restored very well and the merc is in good shape.

For fishing the great lakes I prefer an aluminum boat and this is a great size and style for weather/waves.

Do you have some pictures?

this will not be a money making adventure if you need to fix it up much at all..... If you want a boat then it could be a good deal for ya.... If your intention is to sell it then get it water worthy and clean it well then broom it

I do not have any pictures at the moment. I will try to get some in the next day or 2. My concern with its value is very simple, if I stick 2000.00 into it, it had better be worth this when it comes time to explaining to my wife why. I frankly have no idea what I would need to put into it to start with. I have had a chance to check the interior and the sink, refrigerator and stove work. The closet has a toilet which also works. The electrical all seems to be working. The stereo however does not. The trailer as I said before looks like it is new so no concern there. The counter top could use replacement but the table top/ bed are in excellent condition. The deck will need some repair/ replacement but fortunately my father-in-law built ice/ sail boats so marine plywood is available in quantity for free. The carpet will also need to go. It has several horns and pieces of radio equipment as well as a depth/ fish finder that appear to work. The cushions for the inside table as well as the outer cushions and engine cover will need replacing. The captains chairs are in excellent condition. I have yet to check the beam, confirm the running condition of the engine and a few other minor details. I believe it will also require fresh paint to look its best. As I was going to be out the 800.00 anyway, I may just keep this around and fix it over time. I will look forward to having the difficult repair questions mulled over by the forum readers here. I will further enjoy the first fish I catch, the sunset and hopefully sunrise I see, the first fireworks and other firsts from my restored chieftain. Thanks again, William
