I have a Ted Williams 7.5 hp outboard Model 217.585880 s/n 6D 061379.
I have been told that this is an engine built by Eska, however when I removed the engine cover a few days ago to repaint I found a tag on the engine with the following:
640-13
Tecumseh
7819566
Is this an outboard motor that has been put together with spare parts etc or is this a legit set up.....I guess it really doesnt matter since the engine runs great but I'm just curious about it.
Thanks

Eska outboards used Tecumseh engines, ranging from 3hp air-cooled to 15hp water-cooled. Eskas were the small outboards sold by Sears under their Ted Williams and Gamefisher lines for several years. They had Tillotson carburetors.

Don't forget to put that tag back on the engine. If you need a part, later on, you'll need the number from the engine.
