1990 Bayliner 4.3 / alpha 1. I have been having a scraping sound coming from the U joint area of the outdrive. Alignment seems to check out good but something isn't right. Universals, seals ect are new and it was there before they got changed. I started looking at these front motor mounts and they don't even look to be mounted in rubber. The upper plate on both is sitting right on the top of the steel ring that surrounds the mount. The mount is one of those FLUID MOUNTS which seem to have come and gone the way things do when they don't work out in industry. Notice those stainless cables are completely slack. The PN is 18098A3 but they have gone the way of T-Rex (probably for a good reason) I looked around the net a lot and see almost no mention of the things in any detail other than people having issues with them.
So are these supposed to sit like this? I doubt it. Also what do they use in it's place as I see nothing shown?
