Wondering if all toons sterns ride low in the water or if it is just a G3 thing
Yes it rides low even without the two of us standing in the rear area
No way to get this thing up on plane with a 60hp more like a plow
Seen a few at dealerships with water lines exactly the same as mine
Where the Yamaha T60 is into about oil drain plug

Appreciate pictures of your water lines for comparison not sure if I should be concerned

Re: Is this normal?

I have a 22 foot Suncruiser with a 75 Merc 2 stroke.
It sits lower in the rear due to motor, gas tank, battery, etc being at the rear end also.

That is just a pointoon thing, most of the heavy things on the boat are in the rear, gas, engine, batteries, and it makes them sit low.

All you can do is make sure there isn't water in your tubes, maybe see about shifting a battery forward and when you load the boat have passengers sit forward first to help level the boat but that is just the nature of the beast.

Thanks guys

I agree with the weight but wonder why the manufacturer would not compensate with more flotation
Or at least mount the motor a bit higher

You can only add more flotation by increasing the size of the tubes or adding more tubes. You have to have something in the water to displace water. Mounting the motor higher does not change the weight of it.

It will never go on plain unless you have lifting strakes, a pontoon is a displacement hull not a planing hull strakes convert it.

Efficiency and speed only come with strakes to get the nosecones out of the water--2 or 3 toon'd. Underskinning a boat is also a very positive thing to have--for less noise and much smoother ride.

My old 24' two toon boat with 115 hp 2 stroke will accelerate like a bassboat until it hits a "wall" at about 30 mph. It just won't go any faster due to the nosecones plowing through the water. I can feel my new Bennington begin to "fly" at 30 mph and faster with the three toons out of the water.

Re: Is this normal?

That is weird isn't it, I took out the company boat this summer, 25' Q tri tube with a volvo 380 horse I/O and at 18-20 mph you can feel it lift out of the water and it is an ESP so it turns on a dime, we were wake boarding and I was really suprised how fast you could spin it when someone fell off.

Pontoons aren't pontoons anymore thats for sure.
