Is this really 25 years old?

I have a Mariner 40M with a serial number that does not appear to be on any part lists (Serial number: 6E9 S 007614). 2-cylinder 40hp, Manual start, Tiller, Yamaha logo stamped on powerhead.

Can anyone identify what year it is and what it's similar to when looking for parts?

I'm pretty sure that is a 1987 motor. There are a few sites online that sell parts for that motor, and of course your local marina should be able to get them.

Thank you very much for the link, however, I live in Edinburgh, Scotland - shipping cost may be too expensive.
