Hi, I have a 1984 115hb evinrude. As you will figure out, I know very little about this stuff. anyways, the steering cable needed to get replaced and the motor was taken off in order to replace it. Since I got it back from the shop the throttle is not working right. It used to be very sensitive, but now I have to push it almost all the way down before it really starts to go, and even then it doesn't always go fast enough to plain. I found a way to adjust how far you can send the trottle down, and that helped a little, but I am wondering if there is another way to adjust it. I noticed some knobs right where the throttle cable enters the motor, is that what I am looking for?

And help would be greatly appreciate it. I live a ways from the shop and I really don't want to bring it back there. Thanks!

The adjustable throttle cable trunion is clamped to the engine by one bolt and a metal retainer.

Spin the propeller to align the shifter dog lobes and while doing so, put the engine into forward gear.

Remove the retaining bolt and metal retainer that holds the throttle cable in place.

Adjust the trunion on the throttle cable so that at the control box full throttle setting, the timer base is up against its rubber stop and the carburetor throttle butterflies are wide open... fully horizontal.

That'll do it but double check the settings a few times after opening to full throttle and returning to neutral as this may change the full setting somewhat.
