This is my first boat and I'm unsure if I have the controls done properly because full diagrams didn't come with the parts. The engine is a 1998 15hp Yamaha four stroke.
My questions are:

1. I have two identical little black brackets that came with the kit. I can't figure out how they are supposed to be installed. I'm not happy with the way it is in the photo because (A) I have a bracket left over and (B) its relying on one bolt to stop it twisting!

2. The bolt attaching the ball joint to the black bracket is just screwed through the black bracket until the threads on the bolt run out. There is 5mm of play up and down.

3. On the right hand side, where are you supposed to put washers and how much play is there supposed to be up and down?
