I have an 88 sea ray seville 16' and I use it mostly for fishing..I have tried trolling with it, but it seems to be around 2-3 mph at idle. Question is can I get a different prop to slow it down a bit?
The numbers on my prop are 17p....im guessing thats the pitch?IMAG0098.jpgIMAG0097.jpg

Thanks for the help folks, greatly appreciated

whats your WOT speed and RPMs???? they make a flap that goes in behind the prop for trolling slow speeds.

The prop isn't going to do much to slow down to troll. There are a couple of ways to slow it down. One is a trolling plate like Sparki said and the other one is a parachute you drag behind to slow it down. I have never used the parachute but have seem people use them.. Good luck..

So what kind of decrease could i expect by adding the trolling plate? Is it really worth the money or save up for a gas kicker?

I have never purchased a trolling plate but I would think that you could go to some sights that sell them and see the cost. And there are large ones and small ones so I would think that you could slow it down enough. The plates have a hinged flap on them that goes up when you are just out running around. Good luck.

do not change your prop, you are in the right RPM range... a kicker motor is best idea, but most costly too, trolling plate should get you down to a good trolling speed.

Another thing you could do if you really wanted to save some money is to tie a good length of rope to a bucket and throw it over like a parachute and drag it behing you to slow you down
