Do you have the old one out? Look on the rubber very closely. The number could be imprinted. It was on mine.

no not removed it yet, still useing the boat at the moment, im gonna do it in the next few weeks as a bit of preventative maintanence

Run your serial number on mercury parts express. If it comes up with your engine, then the part numbers for everything will be exactly stock.

If it doesn't, then there's some history you don't know. You can either guess, or wait till you tear it down.
