im getting an exhaust leak from this. the motor was run for about 5 minutes after it happened... do i need to be worried about the motor?

What would cause this to happen? the motor is a 95 im sure its original gasket.

The head/block not true....
Defective gasket......
Incorrect bolt torque......
I would check the head/block for warp & put a new gasket on it, torque to spec & go boating....;)

don,

mine is a 95. when i replace the gasket, timing needs to be set at 1BTDC factory spec right?

also,
when i set it before at 1BTDC, and un-jump the switch and dist., the timing jumps to 12BTDC..shouldn't it be around 10BTDC??

Re-read the service bulletin. I think you missed the part about 1? BTDC (old setting) and 1? ATDC (new setting).
That is a 2? difference.

Yeah but doesn't it say the timing change only applies to 97 and 98 model 3.0 motors??

Yeah, that's what it says, but you have a 3.0L (same as 97 & 98), you have the same distributor and original timing (same as 97 & 98), and you have the same problem of a blown head gasket (same as 97 & 98).
Notice a pattern here?
