I have heard that it might be good idea to use isolator bolts to connect a minkota trolling motor to an aluminum boat. Has something to do with shorting out the minkota. Anyone hear about this?

Re: Isolator bolts for minkota

JB, I appreciate your reply. The reason I asked was because a friend said that he had a problem with the minkota and when he spoke to the minkota folks they told him he should have used isolator bolts to keep the trolling motor isolated from the aluminum boat. When he told him that there was nothing in the installation instructions he was told that was correct but that it needed to be done. After further discussion minkota warrantied the trolling motor. That is the reason for asking. Seems like you can't believe anyone who is trying to sell you something. Dan
