JB - I think the point is that Venezuela is not the friendly country it used to be and is becoming a cancerous liability to the stability of neighboring countries; and Israel is arming her with sophisticated weapons. Kind of along the same lines as N Korean selling nuke technology to Iran.

Interesting that everyone left out the Netherlands in their comments . . . hmmmmmm Well I dispute 18r's analogy. North Korea selling to Iran is "really bad people" selling to "really bad people". This looks more like good democratic countries selling to wanna be "really bad people".<br /><br />On the surface I don't like this, but the fact is that Israel needs weapons more than probably any country in the world, hence there record for developing and manufacturing them. There is also private enterprise stuff going on here, and those companies must seek a return on their product development costs or they're dead. I guarantee that almost every US company would sell stuff, including weaponry, to Iran if it was legal . . .

what about ABB selling nuclear reactors to N Korea in the 1999 era when Donald Rumsfeld was on the board of directors?<br />one thing is the isralis make good weapons for shooting stuff down, ask anyone that had to man a patriot battery in the early 90's, it was a flawed system and the isralis warned the US of the flaw and the generals poo pooed them and a scud wiped out a lot of jarheads due to that flaw, the israilis fixed their batteries.<br />however as a friendly nation and knowing bunny head down south, why sell a sophisticated weapon system to them. didnt the US just toss a tantrum over spain selling some transport planes that had no weapons?<br />were is the US tantrum over this. once you have the system its easily reverse engineered to find any flaws and modify it.
