Issue with Teleflex Steering

Hello. I have a Lowe Big Jon that has a console, with a Teleflex Safe-T Steering unit. I just noticed last night that it doesn't turn anywhere near as sharp to the right as it does to the left. It only became an issue when I was trailering the boat last night. This morning, I looked at the engine with the steering wheel turned all the way to the left, and all the way to the right. Sure enough, when turning to the right, it doesn't really move the engine all that much at all. The steering wheel has almost 3 turns from lock to lock, and the engine is about centered when I'm at about half way. There is no apparent binding, and nothing is stopping the engine from moving. Without the steering wheel connected, the engine turns freely as it should. It just looks like soething is catywompous with the installation. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

start by looking at the installation manual.

keep in mind, Teleflex sold their steering line to SeaStar about 5 years ago (Teleflex is completely out of the marine market).

I'd do that if I had one. This boat was bought used. I thought someone here might know, which I thought was the purpose of the forum. :)

so go on-line and look up the installation manuals on the SeaStar website now...........

the issue is we cant see your boat and you didnt post pics. so all we can do is point you in a direction.

most likely, the arm going from the end of the cable to the outboard is bend/damaged/etc.

The arms that connect the steering rod to the motor are available as adjustable or in different lengths.

So set the steering rod that goes thru the tilt tube,1/2 way out, and see where the motor sits. It should be straight at that point. If not the arm is the wrong length.
