$4.85, at the local marina.

Needless to say, they don't sell much, except to the boats "captive" in the marina.

Talk about gouging!

San Francisco is just getting what it's asked for. Don't allow any new refineries to be built, and demand your own boutique gas, then you're gonna pay the price. I left Califronia a year and a half ago, and prices here now are still lower than what I was paying there then. And now the Unical76 is merging with Texaco Cali is only going to get the shaft even more.

It is $1 per liter in Western Canada, $3.78 CAN per US gallon. Factoring in the exchange it works out to $3.10 USD per gallon. Wait until oil hits $100 USD a barrel. They are squeezing the crap outta us.

Can I hear a "Thank You...Mr. AL Gore" ....and his fellow treehuggers !

for blocking legislation to utilize US taxpayers own oil resources in Alaska. After billions of dollars were spent to build the Alaskan pipeline, it is currently functioning at less than 10% of it's operating capacity.

I have a feeling we've aint seen nothing yet to make $2.00/gal seem like a bargain.

Well I hate to say this but if the price stays this high we migh see a shift to oil sands in Canada. I would love that to happen because I would rather the money went to Canadians than the Saudi'. So As soon as a call for canadian crude is made you watch the oil price plumet!

Personally i see no case here for any of us. Take a look at what Europe is paying in gas prices, where well over half of the private vehicles are diesel.

We are still enjoying gas prices that are cheaper than bottled water. That blows my mind.

I don't feel sorry for them one bit. The reason their gas is so expensive is because the tax is several dollars per gallon. I am not familiar with the governments in Europe, but they either voted for that tax, voted for the official who started the tax, or pay less tax in places where we spend more. Unless they live in a dictatorship, it's their own fault.

The cost to produce a barrel of synthetic crude from oil sand is about $12 right now.

Some years back ,70, UCLA was making crude from plant material. They said it was not cost effective until crude reached $ 50 a barrel. Who knows what that would be today.

Re: It’s Here! $3/gal

Watched a documentary on using soy bean derivatives for motors fuels - specifically diesel fuel. Perhaps the way of the future with a renewable resourse. Not sure what the costs would be but with gas reaching $1.00/litre, any alternatives would be a good thing. In the local used boat magazines there are ALOT of the bigger boats going up for sale this spring. The cost of fuel is reaching the unacceptable threshold for recreational usage. Glad I've only got a 40HP to feed.
